Notifications¶
At a glance. Your inbox collects what matters to you — an approved join request, a new report in moderation, a role change. New notifications arrive in real time. Optionally, you can additionally be notified via web push directly in the browser. What you receive is up to you.
You reach the inbox via the Inbox entry in the navigation.

The inbox¶
The Notifications area has two equal tabs:
- Messages — your inbox.
- Settings — what you get notified about and how.
The Messages are laid out as list-and-detail: on the left, compact rows with date and title; on the right, the details of the selected message — with text, timestamp, an "Open" action (jumps straight to the affected content, if there is any) and the option to delete. Unread items are marked; you can mark all as read. On narrow screens the detail view opens as its own step.
New notifications appear in real time — without reloading the page.
Settings: what you receive, and how¶
In the Settings tab you decide what locali informs you about and through which channel:
- Notification types — choose per type (e.g. "Comment on your post", "New event") whether you want to receive it. A few important types are always on and cannot be disabled — they are marked accordingly.
- Email notifications — one switch to turn all email notifications on or off at once.
- Push notifications — see below.
Web push (optional)¶
In addition to the inbox, locali can notify you via web push — directly in the browser, even when the app is closed. This is voluntary: each person decides for themselves whether to enable push.
To enable push:
- Open the Inbox and switch to the Settings tab.
- Enable push notifications.
- Allow notifications when your browser asks once for permission.
On some devices, web push only becomes available once you have installed locali as an app — in that case the settings point this out and offer the installation directly.
Installed as an app?
If you have installed locali as an app (PWA), the app icon shows the number of your unread notifications as a badge. → For Members
